is Chair of the Department of Gerontology at Naropa. Bob has been a leading figure in the development of social gerontology in the United States over the past 30 years. He is author of more than 100 professional articles in gerontology and more than a dozen books, including Continuity and Adaptation in Aging: Creating Positive Experiences (Johns Hopkins University Press, 1999) and Social Forces and Aging, 9th edition (Wadsworth Publishing Co., 2000). Bob served as president of the American Society on Aging from 1988 to 1990. Prior to coming to Naropa in 1998, he was Distinguished Professor of Gerontology and Director of the Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University in Ohio. Bob has been teaching about the relationships among spirituality, adult development and aging since 1985.
