Training and Professional Support

The Naropa Community Studies Center provides training and professional support for students, staff and faculty on a range of topics, including:

  • incorporating contemplative approaches into service work
  • incorporating service learning or social engagement into a curriculum
  • building relationships, partnerships, and coalitions
  • working with diverse populations
  • resolving conflict in community work
  • systematically analyzing the outcomes of community work
  • preparing the results of community work for publication or oral presentation

In addition, the Community Studies Center can provide training on ways to integrate the following themes into community work:

  • constructivism and hermeneutics
  • critical race theory
  • developmental psychopathology
  • epidemiology and public health
  • prevention science
  • socially engaged Buddhism
  • third wave feminism and queer theory
