If you are interested in a Naropa education, it is likely that you are looking at creating a life and career that goes beyond the conventional wisdom of mainstream culture. Career counseling, Naropa style, starts with building a career that resonates with your deepest levels of integrity. It means following your heart, your intuition and your own calling. It means finding your unique contribution to the world and moving in that direction with commitment, purpose and dedication.

Undergraduates are strongly encouraged to meet with the career counselor the first year at Naropa. You can begin exploring and defining who you are, what your innate talents, interests and skills are, and what professional paths you may be interested in exploring. Volunteer and community service work can provide incredible opportunities to explore different areas of interest. Career Services can help you find the volunteer placement that meets your unique interests. It takes time to develop a Naropa-style career vision. The career counselor can help you develop that vision from freshman year onward. Ideally, touching base with the career counselor once a semester is helpful, maintains a focus and adds purpose to how you will apply what you are learning at Naropa when you graduate.

Graduate students are encouraged to use Career Services to start obtaining direct experience in the field through part-time work or volunteer work. The second year you will need to create a strong resume, learn how to write a focused and professional cover letter and develop your interview skills to get the internship you want. The third year is time to start planning for the future after graduation, developing your career goals and manifesting your life’s work. Utilize Career Services to make sure every resume, cover letter or interview you do is professional and impressive, and that you are well prepared to create the work you love when you leave.
