How and Why to Use Audio
Hearing the author’s voice reciting their poem is one of the best ways for students to understand what is being said. The emotion is released through the spoken word as opposed to reading the words on a page where ideas may sometimes be lost in translation.
Using audio can be used as homework where students are assigned to listen to the entire recording located at www.archive.org under education and scrolling down to Naropa Poetics Audio Archives.
Smaller clips less than two minutes can be easier to use during class time. This site offers more than 100 clips for teachers to use in their curriculum.
