For Parents

Naropa University is beginning to plan a parents’ committee/council and would like your feedback on what this group could look like. Parent councils at many universities help identify and put to best use the considerable talents and resources of families for the benefit of students’ education.

How can you be helpful?

Organize local events at your home or business that support our admissions and alumni offices. Explore the idea of internships for current students in your business or profession.

Make phone calls to other parents to encourage them to give to our annual fund—just as you hopefully have made Naropa University a priority in your own giving. All such gifts are an investment in our most precious asset: the minds of tomorrow’s leaders. In addition, you can make calls to new families as students are accepted—and potentially host a gathering of those families in your area.

Help plan a weekend here in Boulder in the fall of 2007 that would bring together students and their families. Take classes. Meet the faculty and staff. Arrange to spend time with the president.

Finally, each year, the president and his wife invite parents and families to their home on the first day of orientation and then again at commencement. This is a wonderful occasion to get to know one another and to share the remarkable stories of how your sons and daughters chose Naropa.
