Additional Admission Requirements

MFA Writing and Poetics

In addition to the standard graduate admission requirements, the following is required for MFA Writing and Poetics:

MFA Writing and Poetics Supplemental Essay

Writing Sample: Applicants to the MFA Writing and Poetics program must also submit a writing sample:

Prose Fiction: 30 pages

Poetry: 15 pages

Translation: 20 pages of original creative work, and if you have them, 3–5 pages of translation work. Translation may be from any genre: prose, poetry, drama or essay.

Interview: An interview with a Writing and Poetics faculty member is recommended but is not required. In some cases, the Writing and Poetics office may request an interview.
