Gail King: SO IT'S OCTOBER

Spring '14 TOC

so it’s October
somewhere north of the city
she has been working on
a haunted asylum
her husband
bitten by a spider
slowly loses his body
his feet float in the fog

with the deck and stairs plumbed
we walk easier

two white dogs
new to the block
cause a ruckus

cat up a tree
all day watching

low sun sits on top of tree
I’m ready
in this and in everything
the spider webs
the morning dew
a cup of good karma on the porch rail
worried about my lost cat
I turn to the sound of a leaf
descending  the stairs
