Matt Peulen: The Chosen Path

Spring '07 TOC

Chugging along a steel path
passing through untravelable land
feeling in control, while out of control
going too fast to stop for problems
we lead with a cow catcher
speeding up to blow up problems
hurting them so we won't get hurt ourselves
knowing our destination
because someone else chose it
unable to have our own thoughts
to make our own choices
realize our own dreams
we work to go faster
move more, cheaper
reach the end goal
someone else's desire
getting somewhere
only to start toward somewhere new
or to return to where we started
