A native of Boulder, Colorado, and currently residing in Denver, guitarist, composer and teacher Janet Feder performs original compositions for prepared acoustic guitar. What likely is most distinctive about her work regards the fact that her solo pieces are stories composed (as opposed to improvised); that she utilizes combinations of prepared and nonaltered strings to effect sounds, rhythms and tones not normally associated with the guitar to explore and expand the sonic regions of the instrument.
