The train was a great modern convenience in the development of Stillwater.
It allowed for less seasonal dependency than steamboats and allowed the cutting and
shipping of boards to be much less dependent on water. Trains also promoted travel
and tourism as they helped people to move during seasons when the steamboats were
kept out.
