Graduate Assistantships

Graduate Assistantships are a form of employment with Naropa University. Graduate students have the opportunity to work in their field and receive a scholarship that s applied directly to their tuition bill. The type of GA positions available may be administrative, instructive or research oriented. 

JKS students have the opportunity to work as Graduate Assistants in the Naropa Writing Center. The NWC is a free service that offers one-on-one writing consultation in a positive, relaxed atmosphere to the Naropa community. The Center also provides quality training and professional development in writing pedagogy to its staff. Graduate students selected to become Writing Fellows are required to take a three-credit pedagogy seminar, offered in the fall.

Fellowships

The Anne Waldman and the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics Fellowships are awarded annually to entering MFA candidates in Writing & Poetics: $25,000 covers full tuition and fees.

The recipients will be writers who show promise in innovative/experimental writing, based on his/her application materials, and will receive professional development while working 10 hours a week on JKS events and/or publications in the fall and spring semesters. In the second year, recipients may apply for Graduate Assistantships at the University.

Applicants must submit their materials by February 1, 2013 to be considered.
