Visiting Fellow, Funded by the Allen Ginsberg Estate
Made possible by the generous support from the Committee on Poetry (founded by the late Allen Ginsberg), the Allen Ginsberg Visiting Fellowship at Naropa University hosts a writer each spring semester for a week-long residency. While the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics hosts writers and readings over the course of the school year, and the Summer Writing Program hosts events over the summer, the Fellowship is distinguished by an intensive week of the Fellow’s reading, instruction, and direct contact with students during the year-round program. Students will have access to the writer’s expertise, including a weekend practicum and poetry chat. Community-wide events will be incorporated into the Fellow’s one-week stay, including a reading of her or his own work, a lecture relating to the development of poetry/prose in the 20th and 21st centuries, and a book-signing reception.
