Transpersonal
Service Learning

Students pursuing the MA in Transpersonal Psychology must deepen their studies through the transpersonal service-learning field placement and the master’s paper, which address practice and theory, respectively.

Service-Learning Field Placement

An integral part of the Transpersonal Psychology program through the transpersonal service-learning courses, the field placement is designed to provide training and supervision in the practice of service work through placements in service agencies, nonprofit organizations, businesses and schools. This is not intended to be a clinical or therapeutic placement. Field placements are supported by study of the transpersonal foundations of service in two second-year courses.

Master’s Paper

While the service-learning field placement emphasizes the practical and service applications of transpersonal psychology, the master’s paper emphasizes its intellectual and theoretical applications. The master’s paper is completed in the fall and spring semesters of the second year. Students choose a topic and work closely with experts in their specific topics as well as faculty.
