Clinical Training

The MA Psychology: Contemplative Psychotherapy program prepares students to meet the demands of the clinical world. Students in this program meet the academic requirements for the LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) credential in the state of Colorado and have been automatically eligible to sit for the Colorado State Board licensing examination upon completion of the program since 1994. Many of our students do not stay in Colorado after graduation, and our alumni are licensed and working in the mental health field throughout the United States and Canada.

Contemplative psychotherapy students are thoroughly trained in clinical skills and understandings. Students are trained in both individual and group psychotherapy techniques. The nine-month internship provides the opportunity for students to experience work in specialized areas.

Upon completion of the program, graduates are trained in being able to foster health in themselves and in their clients. They have developed confidence in themselves and in their clinical abilities and are ready to make a meaningful contribution to the well-being of others.

The internship, in the third year of study, is also vital to a student’s preparation.
