Chaplaincy Project

Last year, the Chaplaincy Project formally began with seven MDiv students taking Applied Theology II and Applied Theology III, the anchors of the project. Students met during these classes to discuss how to approach helping others through socially engaged spirituality.

Student chaplains are peers. They want to get in tune with your life. It’s a deep-seated urge that moves people to join up with the project.

The fieldwork placements, which are made based on individual student interests, provide a live context for students to integrate all four streams of learning through applying them to the needs of real world situations, initiating, at the same time, the process of lifetime learning through their work.

These fieldwork placements or experiential learning internships may incorporate a more traditional chaplaincy model or that of the contemplative social activist.
