Living in London
COST OF LIVING IN LONDON
It has been said that London is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in, so you MUST take some time to consider how much money you will need per week. It is vitally important to remember that your LISPA training will be very demanding, and adding financial difficulties onto those challenges can prove overwhelming. The best way to prevent financial troubles is to plan ahead, and create a budget.
The following breakdown may prove to be helpful. Remember though that these are MINIMUM estimates based on current LISPA students’ experiences. The budget below DOES NOT INCLUDE TUITION FEES.
Average Accommodation Rent per week: £85
Bills per week: £20
Food per week: £35
Transport per week: £20
Other: £20
Total in Pounds: £180 per week; £720 per month; £6,480 for a nine-month academic year
Total in Euros: €266 per week; €1,063 per month - €9,563 for a nine-month academic year
Total in US dollars: $316 per week; $1,266 per month - $11,359 for a nine-month academic year
Please note – the British Council estimates for international students are higher – they estimate London cost of living at a minimum of £830 per month or £7,500 per nine month academic year, not including tuition fees. Again, the LISPA
estimate number is an absolute MINIMUM and does not include financial room for things like theatre tickets, travel or other
leisure activity.
Please make a financial plan/budget for your London time and stick with it. You will save yourself many unpleasant surprises and much stress if you do so.
