The Center for Advancement of Contemplative Education
The Center for Advancement of Contemplative Education (CACE) is a research institution
that investigates ways that a contemplative approach to education can enrich higher
education, research, teaching, administration, and general campus life. The center
seeks to develop the field of contemplative higher education to reflect cultural diversity
and include voices derived from multiple world wisdom traditions.
The goals of CACE are to stimulate:
- Research in the theory and methods of contemplative education
- Development of metrics and methods to assess outcomes of contemplative curricula
- Increased effectiveness in integrating contemplative approaches into higher education curricula
- Broader inclusiveness in the ongoing vision and revision of contemplative education
- Expanded opportunities for collaboration among faculty across academic disciplines and campuses
- Opportunities for Naropa University faculty to share and deepen contemplative approaches through lecturing and sharing within the university and with faculty from other colleges and universities
CACE projects include:
- Contemplative Pedagogy Seminar
- Rocky Mountain Contemplative Higher Education Network
- The Lenz Fellowship
- Contemplative Education Digital Resources (forthcoming)
CACE is funded by a grant from the Frederick P. Lenz Foundation for American Buddhism, which is dedicated to promoting the benefits of American Buddhism, yoga meditation, and related Buddhist practices as a pathway to self-realization and the harmonious blending of the material and the spiritual in contemporary American society.
