More Arts and Practices

A Contemplative Martial Arts degree gives students well-rounded and in-depth experience of their chosen art and of other world wisdom traditions. Students get exposure to master-level teachers in these other traditions.

Arts that are part of the Traditional Eastern Arts program include: 

  • A variety of sitting practices, including Shambhala, Zen, and Yoga meditation
  • Religious and Philosophical Traditions of China including Daoism (Taoism), Confucianism, and Chinese Buddhism (Chan/Zen)‬
  • Ikebana/Kado—the Japanese art of flower arranging
  • Mudra Space Awareness—exercises and experiments with space and form
  • Indian Devotional and Raga Singing—the study of transforming consciousness and awareness using sound
