Recycling Statistics

2007

In 2007, Naropa University diverted the following amounts of waste from landfills to either recycling or composting:

  • Mixed paper and cardboard: 21,490 lbs.
  • Commingled containers: 9,860 lbs.
  • Compostables: 15,990 lbs.

These efforts conserved:

  • 183 thirty-foot trees
  • 157 cubic yards of landfill space
  • 75,215 gallons of water
  • 61,891 kilowatt hours of energy

These efforts prevented:

  • 681 pounds of air pollutants

2006

During 2006, Naropa University diverted the following amounts of waste from landfills to either recycling or composting.

  • Mixed paper and cardboard: 22,745 lbs.
  • Commingled containers: 6,795 lbs.
  • Compostables: 5,890 lbs.

These efforts conserved:

  • 193 thirty-foot trees
  • 156 cubic yards of landfill space
  • 79,608 gallons of water
  • 59,316 kilowatt hours of energy

These efforts prevented:

  • 707 pounds of air pollutants
